Sewage Ejection Pump - Don't Do It - Here's Why
This garage door opening is 16-foot wide. It's a two-car garage.
I have never noticed a center stud before. I am going to have to keep an eye out for one. Possibly make something very cool with one of those.
Cool advice. There isn’t a framer in the world that has the time to sort out their studs though. Slap it in, make money, onto the next one.
There are framers that care. But they're a distinct minority.
Thank you for the knowledge.
YW as we say in Morse. W3ATB.com
The best studs are quarter sawn!
Yes indeed. But very rare to get them.
Solid insights, thank you!
where do you buy lumber ?
I buy it at a lumber yard.
How wide is the overall garage?
The door opening is 16 feet. It's a 2-car garage.
SO TRUE THAT IS CRAZY AND THEY KNOW IT.
Using a knee-pad is a great idea! I have exactly the type of knee pad you are using. The hand-holds allow you to get up more easily. It becomes a seat if you turn it over, with the hand-holds becoming the legs of the stool. It was given to me by someone who had no use for it. Seeing you use it, I'm so glad to have received this "vintage" item to do my tile-setting project.
Entrance is huge. Unless they're parking 3 cars in there nobody is going to have a problem opening doors or getting out.
You're wrong. It's a 16-foot-wide garage door. Do the math. Add up the average width of a car and maybe a 1/2-ton pickup and the space you need between them so you can get out of the car/truck. You'll see I'm right.
My garage is built the same way, and i have NEVER had any of those problems. Simply don't park too close to the wall. Simple.
Share a video of your garage here. Show us the two cars in it like this one will have, so we can see how much space you have on all sides of both cars.
My guy there is LOADS of space in that garage. To assume that the owner plans to park as close to the wall as possible, is very odd.
It's a 2-car garage.
@@askthebuilder and?
Do the math. How wide is the average mid-size car? How wide is an F-150? Do you know the width of the normal parking space in a parking lot - the width between the line? It's 9 feet. Some are 10 feet. When you park in one of those spots can you open your car door fully or will you bang into the car next to you? We all know the answer. Here in this garage, you have two 8-foot stalls! So add up the space you need for the two cars, the space you need between the two cars to try to get out without bashing the door next to you and tell me what you come up with. I already know the answer.
When I park my motorcycle only in there ,plenty of room.
Why of course there would be...
Your brain is off. Minimum is 2’ and anyone who’s smart enough won’t drive that close to the wall genius 😂
You're tiny gray cells have worn out. This is a 2-car garage. Do the math on your reply. Or watch my other Garage Design Flaw videos
Home depot trash stock 😂
I understand what you are saying, but how many cars fit in there? It looks really wide. Shouldn't there be enough room to not park close to the wall and still get the door open?
The door opening is 16 feet..Do the math.
Make the door smaller🤓
Learning the art of wood working is fascinating.
They DON'T care about the people that buy the house! They just want to build as cheaply as possible with the biggest profit!
But if its 4 foot, there's less room to drive into the garage and less freedom of choices? If that wall is shorter, the owner has the option to leave more space and position objects in another location such as on one side or the other rather than no choice? Just asking?
This is the guy I want to build my house.
Is it a double garage? And how wide is the garage?
Yes. 16-foot-wide opening. 2 cars!
That's normal noone is gonna squeeze their car against the wall. That way you have a bigger doorway and easier access.
You're right if the owner has one car. It's a 2-car garage.
This is a huge garage. Garbage cans and bycicles dont take entire wall like your shelves . Only flaw is the middle divide might limit you a bit... the only flaw is the owner.
Did you erase my comment?
Maybe they dislike you and did that just to piss you off
It's not my house. It's not my job. I just drove past it on the way to the golf course.
Wow. What do you think the reason for this is? Is it a set blueprint that they can’t deviate from or are they doing this on purpose?
The reason is because they're not very intellegent.
Over the years there used to be a lot of fake mayonnaise products like Miracle Whip. However, now Hellman’s Real Mayonnaise is actually not purely real either as you’ll sadly see Contains Genetically Modified Foods on the back label.
Where are the plans? What’s the door opening specified v. what was built? One cannot make the generalization statement by looking solely at the return wall.
Unfortunately, I bought a house with a basement bathroom and it has an ejector pump. This was added on by the previous owner. How hard would it be to go back to the original plumbing setup?
Do you recall any of the discussion in high school physics class about gravity? I'm happy to discuss your options during a phone call: shop.askthebuilder.com/15-minute-phone-or-video-conversation-with-tim/
yeah , be sure you use rusted mesh
What a shame you didn't pay attention in high school chemistry class. You need to read up on how the OH- hydroxyl ions in the surrounding concrete produce a protective layer on reinforcing steel - even with the light mill scale rust that's unavoidable. This thin coating reduces the corrosion rate to a negligible level. Share with all of us where you purchase steel mesh that has no rust on it whatsoever.
well that was a dramatic exit
YOu are so cool!!!!
The shades and three-day whisker growth do add a touch. I'm not in love with the fisheye lens that makes me look 50 pounds heavier than I am!
Will this work in my shed on the walls?
Yes.
Although I appreciate the information, it would've been even more informative to mention that these setups run b/w $2,000-$3000+ for those on a budget doing some quick research
How in the world did you arrive at those figures? I can purchase the fan, the ducting, and controls for only hundreds of dollars. Look: www.supplyhouse.com/Fantech-FG4-FG-Series-Round-Inline-Exhaust-Fan-4-Duct-100-CFM
Very simple yet effective, thanks man. Learning stuff like this helps you out in life for sure. I'm 15 currently turning 16 in June, thanks for the help OG.
Very helpful, thank you.
Nice video.
Tim, I know this may sound dumb, but you said not to touch any bare copper other than the ground wire. You know the power at the panel box would be off; so why would we still wanna avoid touching bare copper? I know I oughta know this, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
A shared neutral on an energized circuit can shock you. Engage your tiny gray cells and think about 12/3 or 14/3 cable. I'm happy to go into great detail on the phone. shop.askthebuilder.com/15-minute-phone-or-video-conversation-with-tim/
No Kleenex???
Nope. I could have flushed hundreds of things. I'd think it's pretty obvious as to the outcome. What's more, listen closely to what I say at the end of the video. I mention the ONLY things that should be put in the toilet.
Ironic that the fake stool is made of soy, because it's in all of our food. Lol
It is nearly the same weight and consistency of a human dookie log.
Thanks for helping me solve my issue 👍
I have a mobile home and live in south carolina, i was wondering how thick should i go and if i it don't fit snug would expanding foam help, and do it put fabric for the underbelly after?
Your answer is here: www.askthebuilder.com/attic-insulation-blown-vs-batt/
You ever light the shit on fire? Man the black smoke that it puts off ! 😂😢
Yes, oil does burn with black smoke.
Thank you for an easy to follow video. Do you have a video on how to change rotted Ridge board and sill plates? Thanks.
No, I don't have those.
@@askthebuilder thank you for replying
Can you get gas hoses in several different lengths?
Yes you can.
@@askthebuilder I just found that out last night😎.
I'm about to pour eight 18" diameter (30" deep) footings for a deck, and was thinking about making a chute to pour directly from my small 4 cu ft concrete mixer directly into the concrete forming tubes to eliminate the need for a wheelbarrow entirely. Your video is one of the few I could find so far about this. Anything you would do differently after having used it? Thanks for posting!
I made a chute out of wood.
Thanks so much for the info! You sir are a legend! Much love from the U.K. 👍🏻
TNX for the kind words. I feel I had my day in the sun. Now there are thousands more home improvement channels and it's easy for me to get lost in all that noise. It's always great to hear from folks across the pond. I appreciate you reaching out.
What insulation would you recommend under the slab and can I put 1” insulation?
closed cell foam. You can put anything in you want. If you need detailed help, I can offer you my protection: shop.askthebuilder.com/15-minute-phone-or-video-conversation-with-tim/
